We are flying into Knoxville and want suggestions for a quick but beautiful drive to Ashevillewhere we will stay for a few days, and then head out for road trips in the area before flying back out of Knoxville 6 days later. Suggestions towns between asheville nc and knoxville tn what to see and do and areas to stay in late October, and what to avoid?

Beautiful views, wildlife, quaint mount towns would be nice. Hard to believe that Mainers would head elsewhere in leaf season, but there you have it!

I would definately head to Dupont Forest. Asheville's is bigger and has more to offer. Waynesville has some really nice shops. Hendersonville has a great bakery and they make a mean burger at Hannah Flannaghans. And since you are coming from Knoxville the Cherokee Indian Village might be open most of towns between asheville nc and knoxville tn Cherokee is pretty much a tourist trap. Hope you have your accommodations reserved, since October is nuts in Asheville.

You will of course be in a fair amount of traffic, but you wouldn't be going fast anyway. About 7 hours. For activities, and there are MANY in the area, check out www.

It is such a small area and I cannot even imagine how hikers and hunters are going to coexist.
